Giraffe and Elephant

This was a panel piece that I bought a few years ago,
I finally sat down and drew up a plan to make it into a
Shriner's hospital quilt. They need to be 60 x 90 to fit on the
hospital beds.

The giraffe and elephant were in the middle with the leaves on
the sides and the orange and yellow flowers on the
top and bottom. The little elephants, owl and whale were
in the corners. I cut them all apart added strips of yellow
green and brown to all sides then I used some of the dot fabric
that I used for the backing to fill in the empty areas.
Kona ash pulls it all together.

This is the backing.
I do like how this simple panel turned into this great quilt!

Spider-man

For July's Shriner quilt I went with Spider-man.

Hero Quilt

My June Shriner's quilt. Marvel Comic Heroes,
the solids framing the blocks look a little like Legos to me.

My Marcelle Medallion Quilt

My version of the Marcelle Medallion Quilt
I used a lot of my scrapes on this quilt.

I was going to do some hand quilting so I put it in a
quilting frame, then decided it would take to long.
I basted it while still in the frame, that worked out
really well. I plan to do that again on other quilts.

I did do more machine quilting on this quilt then I usually do.

I like how the quilting shows on the back of the quilt.

I think I will make another one some day when I collect more scrapes!

To Boston with Love

“To Boston With Love,” is being organized by a pair of quilters who connected
on the Internet, Berene Campbell of Vancouver, British Columbia, and
West Newbury’s Amy Friend. Flags were made by quilters from all over
the country. These are the pendants from the modern quilt guild in St. Louis.

They were hung in the Boston Fine Arts Museum over memorial day
weekend, and will be hung again next year too.
I made these two green peace and dove pendants.

Here are some links if you would like to see them.

Table Runner

The Stlmqg had a room-by-room swap challenge,
we chose a name of someone and they had
what room we were to make something for and a color
that they wanted. I got Laura , kitchen/dining and yellow.

I decided to make a table runner inspired by the pattern
"Sardinia table runner" in the book
Quilting Modern written by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen

I hope she liked it!

Paris

This is another quilt top I made for Shriners Hospital,

the pattern I used is great to show off large pieces of material.

I like how it looks woven.

Pink and Black

Another quilt for Shriner's Hospital. I made up a pattern
to fit in the six panels that I got from my local quilt guild.
This picture does not show the colors very well it
actually turned out very nice and I hope it cheers up a little
girl while she is in the hospital.

This is the back, it will be quilted by a longarm quilter in the guild.

Texas

I made this quilt to send  to Texas for the
University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
online quilt auction.

October 23 - November 6, 2013: Online Quilt Auction

All the proceeds go to the Blanton- Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program.

Interlock

I made this to donate to Shriner's Hospital,
a member of our local guild will quilt it on her longarm machine.

The material looks like a solid but it has a small design in it.
I will be making another quilt using this pattern.

Wonky Star

This is my wonky star quilt. I actually made it a year ago
and put off machine quilting it because I wasn't sure how I
wanted to do it. I finally pulled it back out and started sewing.

I had to get this material when I saw it. Love those dragonflies!

I finished this with a black and white binding, I like the look of the stripes on the quilt.

Cruzin'

When I bought this bicycle material I had the idea to use just
solids with it. I had all my colors picked out and sitting in
my sewing room while I was working on another quilt.

After looking at the stack of material, I thought a few
chevrons, polka dots and a black/ white cross hash fabric would
look great in with the solids so I mixed it up a little. I quilted
my first circles in this quilt; I was influenced by the wheels and now
think I am ready to push myself a little more in my machine quilting.

I really like how this turned out, I will have to wait for someone
in the family to have a baby boy to give this to.
Anyone want to make an announcement?

Madrona Road Challenge

The Modern Quilt Guild issued a challenge to all  guild
members and the St. Louis MQG has taken up the challenge.
We were given some Madrona Road fabric,
by Michael Miller with instructions to use only solid colored
fabric  with it and the project had to have some quilting.

My entry is a quilted baby blanket.
This will eventually be donated.

Sandi's Tote

I didn't think I would be making another tote so soon but
my cousin asked if I would make one for her.

She said she liked the darker one I made for Kat and her
favorite color is green, so this is what I came up with.

I love the retro look of this material and had the thought
that I may want to keep this and make her another one.
But I didn't, it's on the way Sandi!

Purple Floral

Another new baby in the family!
A baby girl!

Her nursery has purple so I went through my stash
and used almost all the purple I had, then added pieces
of the backing to add another color into the mix.

I  purchased the backing piece last summer just because
I loved the colors. It goes very well with the front of the quilt.

Dragon's

This quilt was made to share a room with this dragon quilt
Older brother wanted a quilt for his bed so I made
him this one using the material I had left.

He loved it and actually jumped up and down when I gave it to him.

He is such a sweet little guy and I am so glad I got to see his reaction.
It made my day!!!

Bow ties

I made these for my son-in-law for Christmas.

He is an English teacher and wears ties to work every day,
be mentioned that he would like some bow ties so that is what he got.

My favorite!

His favorite! Also his favorite color.

And brown for those laid back days!
