Cruzin'

When I bought this bicycle material I had the idea to use just
solids with it. I had all my colors picked out and sitting in
my sewing room while I was working on another quilt.

After looking at the stack of material, I thought a few
chevrons, polka dots and a black/ white cross hash fabric would
look great in with the solids so I mixed it up a little. I quilted
my first circles in this quilt; I was influenced by the wheels and now
think I am ready to push myself a little more in my machine quilting.

I really like how this turned out, I will have to wait for someone
in the family to have a baby boy to give this to.
Anyone want to make an announcement?

Madrona Road Challenge

The Modern Quilt Guild issued a challenge to all  guild
members and the St. Louis MQG has taken up the challenge.
We were given some Madrona Road fabric,
by Michael Miller with instructions to use only solid colored
fabric  with it and the project had to have some quilting.

My entry is a quilted baby blanket.
This will eventually be donated.

Sandi's Tote

I didn't think I would be making another tote so soon but
my cousin asked if I would make one for her.

She said she liked the darker one I made for Kat and her
favorite color is green, so this is what I came up with.

I love the retro look of this material and had the thought
that I may want to keep this and make her another one.
But I didn't, it's on the way Sandi!

Purple Floral

Another new baby in the family!
A baby girl!

Her nursery has purple so I went through my stash
and used almost all the purple I had, then added pieces
of the backing to add another color into the mix.

I  purchased the backing piece last summer just because
I loved the colors. It goes very well with the front of the quilt.

Dragon's

This quilt was made to share a room with this dragon quilt
Older brother wanted a quilt for his bed so I made
him this one using the material I had left.

He loved it and actually jumped up and down when I gave it to him.

He is such a sweet little guy and I am so glad I got to see his reaction.
It made my day!!!

Bow ties

I made these for my son-in-law for Christmas.

He is an English teacher and wears ties to work every day,
be mentioned that he would like some bow ties so that is what he got.

My favorite!

His favorite! Also his favorite color.

And brown for those laid back days!

Lion King

This little guy found a new home today.
He was the inspiration for this baby quilt.

The mix of textures and pattern turned out really well.

I used flannels, cottons and a nice soft fluffy backing with a sateen binding.
It is so soft!

Nursing Home Quilts

I donated five quilts to our local nursing home for their Christmas gift party.
I really like the blue trees in this material.

This one is just a panel so it was really easy to make, but it looks great!

This quilt was made with strips also very easy
and then I did some curvy machine quilting.

A little patch work quilt.

This is a cheater, two pieces of flannel with another piece
sandwiched in the middle. Sewn together and turned inside out
then top stitched around the edge. It is nice and warm.

Kiki always has to get into the pictures. Ha!

Kat's Tote

I made another tote bag, this one is for Kat. I put a camera on the
front pocket for her. I got the idea for the camera from One Shabby Chick.

The tote has two outside pockets.

And the inside has pockets all the way around.

Hoot Owls

Here is my wonky owl quilt, this one is heading to
Washington state for the new baby boy in our family.

I love the owls in this material so I used a large chunk for the backing.

Check out the black spotted binding, it really works great with quilt.

Echino

I made myself an Ipad cover using my Echino fabric,
I originally saw this on Cindy's blog Hyacinth Quilt Designs she had

I changed it up a little, I made the top flap 8 inches
wide instead of 3.5 inches and added a magnet snap in place of Velcro.

I also made a new tote using Echino and Anna Maria's Art Student
Tote Pattern. It has two zipper pockets on the outside and two sets
of D rings on the sides you can adjust to make it fit whatever you want.

On the inside there are pockets all the way around. I made one to
fit my Ipad. I have used this a few times already and really like it.

100 Quilts for Kids

The St. Louis Modern Quilt Guild is participating in the 100 Quilts for Kids
They gave me this polka dot material to make a quilt with.
I worked on this one when I went on a quilting retreat.

I had enough left over to make another quilt.
The small one finished out as 36 x 43 and the larger as 45 x 52

I found an alphabet fabric to put on the back of both and
I used a charcoal grey binding on one and a black on the other.

This was made for a wedding shower gift for my daughter's good friend.

I decided to make another block to finish off the back.

Finland

This quilt will be heading to Finland. There will be a new baby girl born into
our family in a few months. I wanted a pattern for a little girl and remembered
seeing this block. I used all half square triangles except the four white corners
of each block. I had 2 charm packs of the Bonnie & Camille for Moda
- Vintage Modern Fabric, I thought it would be perfect for the flowers in this pattern.

I used some scraps with a white edging for the back with more of the
Bonnie & Camille for Moda - Vintage Modern Fabric Red Dot.
I had a red and white stripe material that I used for the binding.

I am very pleased with how it turned out.

Even the cat likes it!
